Built in 1926 in the Territorial Style, the Fényes-Curtin House was home to three generations of powerful women. Eva Scott Fényes came to Santa Fe in 1889 and became an astute real estate developer and investor. Her daughter, Leonora Scott Curtin, was an ethno-botanist specializing in plants and herbs used by the indigenous cultures of the Southwest. Granddaughter Leonora Frances Curtin Paloheimo was a linguist who studied Native American languages and culture. Together the Leonoras, as they were often called, were founding members of the Spanish Colonial Arts Society still active in New Mexico today.
