With years of experience filling journals and sketchbooks, Instructor Ingrid Ellison has now embraced the art of creating unique artist books. Historic Santa Fe Foundation is pleased to offer a one-day workshop where participants, guided by Ellison, will craft a small, handheld book. This workshop provides an opportunity to select cover papers and fabrics, construct the book, and personalize it with painting and drawing, all under Ellison’s expert guidance.
The workshop will begin with choosing cover papers and fabrics for the spine, and facing the the inner covers with decorative papers. Then participants will have the chance to fill their pages either by responding to a series of prompts or by adding photos and mementos they bring from home.
Once the pages are complete, they will be stitched into the covers. Lastly, with time and interest permitting, participants will have the opportunity to share their books with each other.
This workshop is open to adults, no experience is necessary.
A material fee of $10 is included in the class rate. Materials include watercolors, gouache, colored pencils and pens, paint markers, paper, textile collage materials, and more.
